A motorcyclist attempting to escape a traffic stop on Monday crashed and had to be airlifted to the Georgia Regents University Medical Center.
At 6:45, p.m., June 9, a Thomson Police Officer attempted a traffic stop on a 2011 Honda CBR motorcycle that was driven by Robert Blake Perdue, 26, of the 1200 block of Reynolds Farm Road in Grovetown.
According to Thomson Police Chief John Seay, the motorcycle had been stolen from Grovetown and Perdue tried to escape the police by driving away down White Oak Road at a high rate of speed. Perdue lost control of the motorcycle approximately two miles east of the Thomson Bypass. He was airlifted to Georgia Regents University Medical Center in Augusta. A hospital spokesperson said June 10 that Perdue is in critical condition.
