Votes unchanged in BOE District 3 recount
By Linda Green

The votes for the three candidates who vied for a seat on the McDuffie County Board of Education remains unchanged.
The McDuffie County Board of Elections performed a recount of the ballots in District 3 at 12:30 p.m., May 29. Election officials re-tallied the ballots that were cast at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church and Vanderhorst C.M.E. Church precincts.
I wanted a recount because I wanted to be sure that the count was accurate because of the margin. I was concerned about that, said James Taylor, the candidate for the District 3 seat who had the least amount of votes.
In the May 20 election, Jarvis J. McNair received 187 votes or 42.02 percent of the 444 votes cast in the district, Richard Downs received 130 or 29.21 percent and James Taylor received 127 or 28.54 percent.
