Under new head coach, Bucs conclude spring practices
By Brian Bowden

Although he isnt an unfamiliar face around Briarwood Academy, Bo Fleming is now at the helm of a varsity football team for the first time in his career.
The new head coach, who succeeds John Osborne, is no stranger to leading a team though. Fleming, who is the athletic director at Briarwood, has coached the boys varsity basketball team. He was also the head coach of the middle school football team and an assistant under Osborne. "That gave me some experience. Ive done the middle school [football] for seven years now, said Fleming. I know all the kids. Ive coached 95 percent of them during middle school football, so they know what to expect.
The Bucs, who concluded their spring practices last week, have many familiar faces on the gridiron again this year, five of which are seniors. "We have a lot of starters coming back," said Fleming. "They're in some different places than they've been in the past though." Total, Fleming had over 30 kids show up ready to play. "The numbers are great. For us to have as many kids out there as we do is very good for us. That's the first thing that sticks out, 34 kids out there," said Fleming. "Our attitude is great too. They are excited. They did what was asked of them."
