Board accepts bid for old building and property
By Brian Bowden

The Warren County Board of Education accepted a bid Monday night at their monthly meeting to sell .518 acres of land that contain the old board of education building at the corner of Edward D. Ricketson Jr. St. and North Norwood St. in Warrenton. "We put out a request for sealed bids and those bids came in," said Superintendent Carol Jean Carey. "I should say the one bid came in."
The sealed bid, which was for $17,500, was offered by First Baptist Church in Warrenton. "I don't know of anyone else who would want it because the building is pretty old," said Carey. "The air conditioning system is going to have to be replaced. That part is pretty much gone."
Although the bid was unanimously accepted by the board, it still has to be voted upon by the entire congregation of the church before the deal can be finalized.
