• Dogs fall in state playoffs
By Jim Wallace

Errors in one game and quiet bats in another led to two losses Friday by the Thomson Bulldogs in the first round of the Class AAA state baseball playoffs.
Thomson’s season ended after 5-4 and 1-0 losses to the Islands High School Sharks in the best-of-three series.
“We’ve had some great baseball this year,” said Aaron Hall, THS head coach. “But, in those two games, we picked a bad time not to get any breaks and not to swing the bats well.”
The Bulldogs had three errors in the first game, and the Sharks crossed the plate with four unearned runs.
Cody Brown and Dustin Adams went 2-for-3 to lead the Dogs in hitting. One of Brown’s hits was a homer to left in the third inning.
Tripp Jones took the loss on the mound.
“He didn’t have his best pitches, but gave us a chance to win and we just fell short,” said Hall.
The Bulldogs, down 5-1 in the seventh, scored three runs to nearly complete the comeback.
