• Dogs to host Sharks in state playoffs
By Jim Wallace

he Thomson Bulldogs will host the Islands High School Sharks of Savannah in the first round of the Class AAA State Baseball Playoffs Friday.
The first game of the best-of-three series begins at 4 p.m., with the second game to follow. A tiebreaker game would be Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Sharks are 14-11 overall and 12-6 in Region 1AAA, and while THS head coach Aaron Hall doesn’t know much about the team, he said his team will be ready.
“They are a fairly new school, and there isn’t a whole lot of information,” said Hall. “We have to show up and play no matter what we know about them.”
Hall said that expected inclement weather would make things a bit more difficult.
“We’ll hit some, but there’s just so much you can do inside,” he said. “The players are ready for post season and we’ll be focused and ready to go Friday.”
If Thomson advances, they will host the winner of the Jackson-Central Carroll series, beginning on Wednesday.
