• TCB flying high after 10 years
By Lindsay Rogillio

In the competitive cheerleading world, it is said that once a new gym stays in business past its fifth year, it’s golden and here to stay. As TCB all-star cheerleading’s tenth season comes to an end, the program is stronger than ever and exponentially growing.
In the last two years, the program has expanded from one gym to two, with one in Thomson and another in Martinez. They also have several satellite programs in neighboring counties where TCB coaches teach cheerleading to kids in their hometown.
The local program has been actively competing across the southeast since 2004, and has been titled National Champions nearly 30 times in its ten years.
With its home location at Sweetwater Gym in Thomson, TCB has drawn participants from several surrounding counties to form competitive squads, including McDuffie, Lincoln, Columbia, Jefferson, Wilkes, Warren and Richmond.
TCB began as a squad of 15 girls with three coaches 10 years ago, but now has more than 100 participants each year. More than 20 coaches teach tumbling, stunting and life skills to local kids.
