Funeral services for James Lee Garnett, 75, of Thomson, who entered into rest March 28, 2014 were held Sun., March 30, 2014. Norris W. Gunby, Sr. Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge of arrangements.

Earl W. Murphy
Earl W. Murphy, 83, of Dearing, beloved husband of Evelyn Murphy, died Mon., March 31, 2014. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wed., April 2, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Westview Cemetery. Curtis Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sue H. Norman
Sue Norman, Beloved wife of the late Thomas “Bud” Norman of Thomson, entered into rest, March 24, 2014.
Funeral services were held March 27, at Little Brier Creek Baptist Church with the Dr. Randy Dunaway and Rev. Ricky Stokely officiating. Burial will follow at Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Norman was born June 25, 1926 to the late R. T. “Judge” Hardaway and Eunice Farr Hardaway. She lived all of her life in McDuffie County. She worked for many years with the Georgia Game and Fish before joining her husband to operate Thomson Tire and Retreading for 50 years before retiring in 2008. She loved to crochet and cross stitch. Many loved ones were recipients of these beautiful items made with so much love throughout the years.
She was predeceased by her brother Richard Hardaway and her grandson Brandon Norman.
She is survived by her “Son”, Marvin (Iris) Norman; granddaughter, Amanda (Jonathan) Ogletree; her precious great-granddaughter, Brandyn Lynne Ogletree; special niece and nephew, Jimmy and Faye Norman; and 2 very special people in her life, Simon Lee “PeeWee” Morgan and David Hicks; sister-in-laws, Ruby Pulliam and Gazzie Hobbs and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Doug Norman, Freddie Norman, Colby Prior, Leslie Winter, Harley Huff, and Chris Norman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lamar Massey, Roger Harrison and members of the Thomson Shrine Club.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Susan Land Caregivers: Glennis Moss, Mary Culver, Wanda Gaines and Elizabeth Bradshaw. Their loving care was so appreciated during a difficult time. Dr. Donald Townsend and the Medical Oncology Staff, and the University Hospital - 10th floor cancer nurses and staff.
