Dignitaries visit Thomson
By Linda Green

Everything Thomson-McDuffie County has to offer was characterized as representatives from 26 countries stopped by the local airport to make contacts with city and county leaders and learn about the economy over breakfast on March 20.
The International VIP Tour, which comprises the Georgia Consular Corp., annually gives Atlanta's diplomatic community the opportunity to visit different areas of the state. The tour gives host areas the opportunities to establish contacts and promote its communities, economies and tourism. The tour sponsored by the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
The Thomson-McDuffie Regional Airport was a stop on the three-day tour. The diplomats learned about the economic engines of Thomson from city and county leaders, the president of Thomson's campus of Augusta Technical College and from the area's head huntsman.
