Health fair offers services to community, promotes nutrition
By Brian Bowden

The Good Samaritan House, a free community health center in Dearing, held a fair on Monday that offered basic check-up services free-of-charge and distributed knowledge on how to live a healthier lifestyle to those in the area.
"This year the theme is good food choices and nutrition," said Gayle Bentley, a teacher in the nursing department at Georgia Regents University in Augusta. "It's just an outreach effort to promote health."
With the help of Bentley and eight of her soon-graduating nursing students, Sandy Turner, a family nurse practitioner at GRU, helped put the fair on for those in need that may not have the means, or funds, to make it to another, more advanced center farther away.
