Head Coach Bo Fleming and the Briarwood varsity boys basketball team have had a rough season to say the least. However, with only two games left in the regular season, the Runnin' Bucs (4-19) are looking forward to region play where they will be the sixth seed and essentially get a clean slate.
On Feb. 4, Briarwood lost to the Spartans of Edmund Burke Academy, 59-31.
The following Thursday, Feb.6, the Runnin' Bucs got a much needed moral victory against the Jags of Thomas Jefferson Academy, 48-41. "Our kids have been through a lot this year and to beat a rival team like that is always good for you," said Fleming. Davis Newton put up 17 points and Jackson Sims had 16. Also contributing offensively were Dakota Reese with six, Bryce Sowell with four, Zach Stadler with three and Jesse Cushman with two.
