On Feb. 5, it was no different for Thomson High School soccer standout Haley Oubre as she turned her verbal commitment into a reality by signing on the dotted line. "Ever since ninth grade, when I started playing travel soccer for some teams in Columbia County and North Augusta, I really started to enjoy the game," said Oubre. "I just wanted to show my passion and love for it to others."
The senior, who signed with Georgia Southwestern State University, has been playing soccer since she was young. "Eight-years-old she decided that she didn't want to play any more basketball or softball," said Oubre's father, Ray. "She wanted to concentrate on soccer and from that point on its been soccer 12 months out of the year for every year since then. I'm proud of all her hard work and accomplishments."
On top of excelling on the soccer field, Oubre is also a standout in the classroom. "She's kept an A average. She's in Beta Club, Spanish Club.
