• Police arrest couple in stolen car
By Linda Green

A North Augusta man and woman who were seen driving without headlights at 5 a.m. as they left the rear of a local church were stopped by a Thomson police officer and arrested for possession of a stolen car and methamphetamine possession.
On Jan. 29, Police Sgt. Scott Whittle stopped the maroon, 1998 Chevy Malibu after it came from behind the House of God Church of God on Jackson Street.
“It was a suspicious vehicle and he stopped the car to see what they were doing behind the church,” said Lt. Marquis Murray.
A check of the vehicle’s tag indicated that the car had been stolen from Richmond County, the lieutenant said.
