Thomson amends alcohol ordinance again
By Linda Green

The City of Thomson's alcohol ordinance, that grants businesses a license to sell alcohol, has been amended and modified.
The city council chose to amend its existing ordinance after it had to rescind a decision denying a business an alcohol license.
The council had denied the Jauhal Corporation a license to sell liquor at its Rimpy's Convenience Store at Old Washington Road and Cobbham Road. The council took that action after the residents of the neighborhoods surrounding the store spoke in opposition to the store selling package alcohol, in addition to the beer and wine already sold. The residents were concerned about public safety as a result of increased traffic at the store and existing traffic conditions in the area.
