• Chamber announces plans for 2014
By Linda Green

A farmers market will be located in downtown Thomson this summer.
Plans for the market were announced at the recent membership banquet of the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce.
Corie Johnson, who started her tenure of service as chairperson of the chamber’s board of directors at the banquet, said the market, which would run for 17 weeks beginning in June, is being implemented to bring people to downtown Thomson.
“It is a great way to get out and meet and greet your neighbors, while helping our local businesses,” said Johnson, also the senior program director for the Family Y of Thomson.
The farmers market will begin June 7 and will operate from 8 a.m. to noon every Saturday through Sept. 27, she said.
