• Runnin’ Bucs lose tough regional games
By Brian Bowden

The troubles for Head Coach Bo Fleming and his Briarwood varsity boys basketball team keep piling on this season as they lose two big region games, but win another in a span of a week.
The Runnin' Bucs (3-12) lost by a combined 72 points in the two games, a trend that is becoming all too common for them this year. The losses gave Briarwood defeats in 7 of their last 8 outings.
On Jan. 14, Briarwood took on rival Gatewood at home in a regional battle and came up short, 71-35. They led after the first quarter, but then fell behind by 15 at half. "We played about as good as we can play the first quarter," said Fleming. "The second quarter, the difference was we missed the shots we were making in the first quarter."
The leading scorers for the Runnin' Bucs were Jackson Sims with 12 points and Dakota Reese with 11. "It was a great effort. The top team in the region and we led after a quarter," said Fleming. "We're getting better."
Friday night, it was more of the same for the Runnin' Bucs as they traveled to Macon to take on the Lancers of Central Fellowship Christian Academy.
