• Mother tells school board her daughter is being bullied
By Wayne Parham

The mother of a Thomson High School student addressed the McDuffie County School Board Thursday and shared her concerns that her daughter was being bullied and nothing was being done.
She said her daughter has been having problems with people “harassing her, bullying her and calling her a very bad name.”
“We wouldn’t consider the name ‘shark’ bad, but I looked it up in the Urban Dictionary because I know how teenagers are,” she said.
The mother explained that the definition is very graphic and provided a copy to the school board members. She said her daughter has talked to the principal about the matter.
“He has been very helpful. He has met with my daughter three times and has been very kind and helpful. She has met with one of the vice principals too and she was very helpful,” the mother added.
