Government of the people, for the people and by the people was most evident as Thomson High School students witnessed the McDuffie County Commission at work.
The commissioners held their first meeting of 2014, Wednesday morning, at THS. The purpose of meeting at the school was to bring the business community and municipal work into the classroom.
More than 75 students in the school’s CTAE (Career, Technical and Agricultural Education) programs were introduced to the local government.
The effort resulted from a partnership with the education committee of the Thomson-McDuffie Chamber of Commerce and CTAE faculty to expose students to all of the tools they will need for careers, said Bobby Hildreth, a member of the chamber and an official with Georgia Power.
