• Commissioners talk tri-county emergency service
By Linda Green

A joint emergency services organization for three counties could be one step closer to approval.
The McDuffie County Commissioners have been meeting with representatives of fire and EMS services in McDuffie, Warren and Glascock counties to discuss the viability of combining their operations to become a regional entity.
At the commission’s meeting at Thomson High School on Wednesday, Warren County Commission Chairman John Graham introduced a tri-county emergency services proposal. The commission met at the school to allow the students to see their local government in action.
The proposal gives the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, at the University of Georgia, permission to study an intergovernmental delivery option and develop a “fair, efficient and administratively viable system for fire and EMS services” in McDuffie, Warren and Glascock counties.
