• Angels adopt 60 children for Christmas

For the second year, two youth service programs teamed up to help the children of McDuffie wake up to smiles on Christmas morning.
The Y-130 Program Center and Partners for Success conducted an Angel Tree, which allowed people from across the area to adopt a child and provide toys and clothes for them at Christmas.
Sixty children were adopted and more than 300 wrapped gifts were delivered to Partners of Success on White Oak Road.
Partners for Success is a collaborative that helps organizations in McDuffie County fulfill needs that support and encourage the development of healthy, stable families. In a variety of ways, it assists children refered by the Department of Family and Children’ Services, the Housing Authority, the school system and other groups. The Y-130, a part of the Family Y, allows creative minds to meet and grow.
The effort to help children at Christmas in 2013 doubled the number assisted in 2012. That year, the Y-130 adopted out 30 children.
