• City of Harlem to refund all speeding fines since February
By Linda Green

Drivers who received a speeding ticket in Harlem between February and November 2013 will be refunded the fine amount and the charge cleared from their driving history.
Harlem Police Chief Gary Jones and city officials made that statement in a Dec. 20 media release announcing that Harlem has a problem with its radar detection devices.
According to the release, Jones discovered on Dec. 19 that the police department’s calibration certification for its speed detection devices had expired 10 months ago.
The Feb. 7, 2013 date of expiration was found while Jones was preparing the radars for calibration and preparing a report for the Georgia Department of Public Safety to maintain a license to operate radar devices.
