• Deer crossing Rousseau Creek Road cause two pickup crashes
By Linda Green

Deer running across the road caused two vehicles to roll over on Rousseau Creek Road on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Richard Fishel, Leroy Maners, 34, of Columbus, was rounding a curve on Rousseau Creek Road at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday when a deer ran out in front of his pickup truck.
“He swerved to avoid hitting the deer but in the process lost control and over corrected his Chevy pickup truck causing it to rollover onto its passenger side,” the trooper said.
A McDuffie Fire Rescue incident report notes that Maners was removed from the vehicle by the rear window after firefighters removed the head rest from the backseat.
