A Warrenton man was arrested Thursday less than an hour after he robbed the Queensborough National Bank and Trust in Thomson.
Tyrone Gibson, 30, who was did business with the bank, was apprehended near the Georgia Power Company on the Thomson Bypass by local and state law enforcement.
Gibson, reportedly walked into the bank at 12:36 p.m. and grabbed money from behind the counter and fled the premises in a vehicle.
“We knew the suspect,” said a bank official. “He is a bank customer. He walked into the bank, walked behind the counter, took a handful of money and took off,” the official said.
“No one was injured,” he added.
Local law enforcement arrived on the scene shortly after the reported robbery. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to assist in the robbery investigation.
