Having the Depot area downtown improved, so the Festival Off Main could be held there did not happen, but work in the area is moving right along.
This year’s festival was held, instead, in the Knox Shopping Center parking lot as work in the Railroad Street area continued.
“We hope to be able to get some striping down on the new lot – weather permitting – so vehicles can use the Railroad Street lot,” said Don Powers, Thomson city administrator. “We still have a lot of concrete work to do on the sidewalks and flat work.”
The administrator said it would probably be after Christmas before the lot is completely open.
“We had to replace a waterline and some storm water issues, so it has slowed us down a bit,” Powers said.
