Local bank robbed Thursday

The Queensborough National Bank & Trust on Warrenton Highway was robbed at 12:45 p.m. today by a single person. According to Police Chief John Seay, officers from the Thomson Police Department, the McDuffie County Sheriffs Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are currently looking for the individual. It is believed that the person has been captured on the Thomson Bypass near Georgia Power. The GBI is heading up the investigation.


UPDATE: The Queensborough National Bank & Trust on Warrenton Highway was robbed at approximately 12:36 p.m. Thursday by a lone gunman. According to a bank official, the man was a known customer of the business. He went behind the counter, took a handful of money and fled the premises. Employees of the bank provided law enforcement with a description of the suspect's vehicle and tag. According to Police Chief John Seay, the suspect has been apprehended near Georgia Power on the Thomson Bypass. No one was injured in the robbery.
