Inclement weather did not dampen the spirit of celebration and yuletide as people from across McDuffie County crowded the lobby of University Hospital McDuffie to witness the lighting of the annual Tree of Love Tuesday night.
The occasion marked the 31st annual Tree of Love and ushered in some sentimentality because it may be the last tree lighting at the hospital’s current location. By Christmas 2014, the hospital anticipates being in new facilities near I-20 on Washington Road.
“The University Hospital McDuffie Board is very excited about the future of our hospital as we watch progress being made on the new building near the interstate,” said Hospital Board Chairman Bill Doupé.
He said the board looks forward to continuing the Tree of Love at the new hospital. “We look forward to that facility being a state-of-the-art facility that will greatly serve the needs of the citizens of McDuffie County and surrounding communities,” Doupé said.
