Dorothy N. Camp
Dorothy "Dot" Neal Camp, 82, of Harlem, wife of the late Hugh Camp, entered into rest on Sun., Nov. 17, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., Nov. 20, at Harlem Baptist Church.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Starling Funeral Home.
Carlos W. Cooper
Carlos Wilbert Cooper, 80, of Evans, formerly of the Savannah area, entered into rest on Nov. 16, 2013.
Graveside services were held on Mon., Nov. 18, at Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends on Sun., Nov. 17, at Beggs Funeral Home in Thomson.
John C. James
John Charles "J.C." James, 79, of Martinez, husband of Lois Perdue James, entered into rest on Fri., Nov. 15, 2013.
Funeral services were held on Sun., Nov. 17, at James Funeral Home in Wrens. Burial was in Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery.
Funeral services for RonTavius Jhamere' McClain, 19, of Thomson, were held on Sat., Nov. 16, 2013, at United House Of Prayer For All People in Dearing. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Thomson Funeral System handled the arrangements.
Aphra K. Miles
Aphra "Freida" K. Miles, 74, of Augusta, wife of the late Clifford Miles, Jr., entered into rest on Sun., Nov. 17, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 19, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Harlem. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Starling Funeral Home.
Glenn “Peaches” Morgan
Glenn Scruggs “Peaches” Morgan, 68, of Old Salem Rd. in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on Nov. 18, 2013 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wed., Nov. 20, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: James Bridges, Lum Wells, Ralph Starling, Mike Neal, Skeet Reeves and John Richards. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Men’s Outreach Sunday School Class.
Peaches as he was affectionately known was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Ga. and was the son of the late Wayne N. Morgan, Sr. and the late Beulah Scruggs Morgan. He graduated from Thomson High School in 1963. Upon graduation he began his career at the family’s business, Morgan Pontiac where he worked many years and later worked with Johnson Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac for 37 years. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Thomson, and a member of the Men’s Outreach Sunday School Class. Peaches was devoted to many church activities such as the Handicap Ramp Construction Ministry, Trunk or Treat, Drive Through Nativity and his passion was the Bicycle Ministry that he spent most of his time gathering bicycles to be given out during Christmas.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathy Edmunds Morgan of Thomson, Ga.; daughters, Michele Morgan Carr and husband Tony, Melissa Morgan Brown, all of North Augusta, S.C. and Lisa Swint Smith and husband John of Thomson, Ga.; brothers, Wayne Morgan, Jr. of Beech Island, S.C. and Gary Morgan of Atlanta, Ga.; and grandchildren, Lyndsey Holt, Ashlee Carr, Preston N. Brown, Ricky Smith and Nicholas Smith. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by a brother, Donald C. Morgan.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Special Missions Fund or the First Baptist Church Capital Improvement Fund, P.O. Box 1205, Thomson, Ga. 30824.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tues., Nov. 19, at the funeral home.
Beggs Funeral Home, 799 Cobbham Rd., Thomson, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
Earline Neal Mullikin, 92, of Evans, daughter of the late Samuel & Duffie Neal, entered into rest on Thurs., Nov. 14, 2013.
Graveside services were held on Sat., Nov. 16, at Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
Visitation was held on Friday at Starling Funeral Home in Harlem.
Ronald Earl Twilley
Ronald Earl Twilley, age 74, of Douglasville, passed away Thurs., Nov. 14, 2013. He was born on Nov. 16, 1938 in Thomson, Ga., the son of Sara Ethredge Twilley and the late Thomas Jefferson Twilley. Mr. Twilley received his degree in Art from the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla. He was a Commercial Artist having worked for the former Type Designs, Inc. Banta in Atlanta until his retirement. He was a member of the Crusselle-Freeman Church of the Deaf and attended Dorsett Shoals Baptist Church. Mr. Twilley touched many lives through his ministry as an Evangelist.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Billie Jacqueline Newton Twilley of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan T. and Henry Ernest Garner of Villa Rica; mother, Sara Ethredge Twilley of Thomson, Ga.; grandchildren, Heather Ann Garner, William Thomas Garner, and MASR Henry Owen Garner.
Funeral services will be conducted on Mon., Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. from Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville. Interment will follow in the Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens in Thomson, Ga. at 3 p.m.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sun., Nov. 17, from 3–8 p.m.
