Marvin B. Cox, 74, of Lincolnton, husband of Kim Cox, entered into rest on Oct. 22, 2013.
Graveside services will be held on Sat., Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at Jones Chapel Cemetery.
Beggs Funeral Home of Lincolnton is handling the arrangements.

Robert Jackson “Jay” Newsome
Robert Jackson “Jay” Newsome, 86, of Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on Oct. 21, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 24, at the Thomson Church of God with Rev. Bobby Farmer and Rev. Douglas Butts officiating. Interment will follow in the Zoar United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Newsome was born in Warren County, Ga. and was the son of the late Willis Newsome, Sr. and the late Ruby McGahee Newsome. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany. He owned and operated Thomson Fabric Center for 18 years and retired from maintenance with the McDuffie County Board of Education. Mr. Newsome was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church for many years and most recently attended the Thomson Church of God.
Survivors include his daughters, Levonne Burnett and husband Frank of Harlem and Janice Brinkley of Thomson; brothers, Willis Newsome, Jr. of Harlem, James C. “Chick” Newsome of Stapleton, Edward E. Newsome of Wrens, Wallace P. Newsome of Kissimmee, Fla. and Donald M. Newsome of Thomson; and four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mr. Newsome was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Hobbs Newsome; and brothers, Harold F. Newsome and Hodges L. Newsome.
Memorials may be made to the Thomson Church of God, 1354 Wrens Hwy., Thomson, Ga. 30824.

Robert H. “Bob” Pickrell, Sr.
Robert H. “Bob” Pickrell, Sr., 64, of Camak Rd. in Warrenton, Ga., entered into rest on Oct. 22, 2013.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 25, in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery of Mitchell with Alan Haywood officiating.
Mr. Pickrell was a native of Warren County, Ga. and was the son of the late Theo Winston Pickrell and the late Edith Dye Pickrell. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a B.S. in industrial engineering and was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Mr. Pickrell was employed at Thomson Company for many years and retired from Chardan Ltd.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Lisa B. Pickrell of Warrenton; son, Robert H. Pickrell, Jr. of Evans; daughter, Cassie Pickrell of Warrenton; and brother, Johnny Pickrell.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Virginia Todd
Virginia Louise Darby Thornton Todd, 84, of Washington, died on Sat., Oct. 19, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Thurs., Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. at Washington First Baptist Church. Committal services will follow at Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Hopkins Funeral Home.
