• Middle school Bucs defeat EBA Spartans 12-6
By Staff Reports

The Briarwood Academy middle school football team improved its record to 7-1 Thursday with a 12-6 victory over Edmund Burke Academy.
“It was a great win for our team. It’s special to beat a quality opponent like Edmund Burke twice in a season,” said Briarwood Coach Bo Fleming.
The Bucs received the opening kickoff and drove down the field on a seven-play drive which ended with a Jesse Cushman three-yard touchdown run. The two-point play failed, but the Bucs had taken a 6-0 lead with 5:24 left in the first quarter.
The Bucs’ defense forced the Spartans to turn it over on downs. The Bucs then drove down the field on a 15-play drive ending in a 14-yard touchdown pass from Connor Corbitt to Lawson Sheppard.
“Connor Corbitt really made a big throw to Lawson on our second drive,” said Fleming.
