A strong day at the plate Monday afternoon powered Briarwood Academy’s Lady Bucs past the Robert Toombs Christian Academy Lady Crusaders in the first round of the GISA Class-AA state playoffs.
Briarwood hosted the best two-of-three series, which was captured by the Lady Bucs in just two games. The Briarwood girls produced nine hits in the first game and 15 in the second game.
“In these two games it was amazing to see some of the girls that aren’t as consistent really produce today. It didn’t matter where they came up, they all were hitting,” said Briarwood Coach Hannah Demore.
Briarwood opened the series with an 8-0 win. The Lady Bucs scored four runs in the first inning and didn’t cross the plate again until the third and the fifth innings.
