• Kiwanis Club of Thomson installs new officers

The gavel of leadership for the Kiwanis Club of Thomson was passed on Monday.
Jeff Heck, the Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis District 6, installed six new officers of the 38-member club.
The district comprises the club’s in Burke, Columbia, Glascock, Hancock, Jefferson, Lincoln, McDuffie, Richmond, Taliaferro, Warren, Washington and Wilkes counties.
Before Garrett Edmunds passed the presidential gavel to Leigh Culpepper,, he provided the club with a laundry list of its accomplishments as he gave words of thanks as he led his final lunch meeting.
“I really appreciate your support and hard work,” Edmunds said as he spoke of the more than $4,000 the club raised for scholarships for the Key Club and in support of the Boys and Girls Club, Relay for Life, the Eliminate project to remove maternal and neonatal tetanus from 13 countries, school activities and district and club projects.
