Several hundred heard God’s word in song and word at a community get-together Tuesday evening at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School.
The 2nd Annual Community Rally, an effort of the TMMS Fellowship of Christian Athletes and local churches and business partners, was highlighted by Pastor Kenny Grant, senior pastor at Calvary Baptist Temple in Savannah.
The Elevate Praise Band of First Baptist Church led off with several contemporary Christian music songs. The band played on after the rally.
Before the event, Grant, a former chief drill instructor with the Marines, said his goal was to challenge the students and parents spiritually.
“Another aspect I try to bring is decency and the whole idea of striving of being good citizens while being a Christian,” he said.
In his moments with the audience, Grant dared people to “live with purpose.”
