Imaginations ran wild Tuesday at a find at the Depot where restoration work is ongoing.
As workers were digging in the second room from the front near a stone footing, a gun barrel was found.
Even though there were no descriptive inscriptions found on the weapon, the rifle barrel inspired guesses.
“Maybe it was used to shoot someone and discarded,” guessed one.
Another ventured that maybe it was used to rob someone and then hidden, said another.
Yet another guess that perhaps it had been used to protect people working in or visiting, since the structure was a train depot.
