Funeral services for Tiffany Clarieca Benton, 32, of Harlem, were held on Sat., Aug. 24, 2013, at New Hope Baptist Church & Cemetery in Harlem.
She was the mother of Titoro Dorsey, Lynnethia Shanks & Tavia Benton-Beard.

Robert McWhorter Boswell, Jr., of Thomson, died on Sat., Aug. 24, 2013, at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Augusta.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Tues., Aug. 27, in the Penfield Cemetery with Dr. Wilfred Bellamy officiating. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in the Thomson Presbyterian Church with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday night at the Curtis Funeral Home.
He was the son of Agnes and Robert Boswell and was born in Penfield, Ga. on June 1, 1925. Upon leaving Penfield, he grew up in Charleston, S.C., where his father had an untimely death. At the age of 11, he along with his mother and sister moved to Thomson, Ga. Bob graduated from Thomson High School and attended the University of Georgia for one year before enlisting in the Navy. During World War II, he served on the LST 570, as a Gunnerís Mate and participated in the occupation of Leyete, Mindora, Philippines, and Okinawa. For his display of cool heroism and devotion to duty in the face of an intense three day enemy air assault in the Sulu Sea, he was awarded a Bronze Star and numerous commendations for bravery. After the war he returned to the University of Georgia, where he was President of Pi Kappa Phi and the Inter-Fraternity Council.
In 1949, he married Jane Ansley, who predeceased him in 1998. Robert joined the Standard Oil Company in 1950. Living in Atlanta, he became the youngest man to achieve a position as Assistant Division Manager of Standard Oil in Georgia. In 1965, he left the corporate office and moved back to Thomson to buy the Chevron Oil Distributorship from his father-in-law, Arnold Ansley. He joined the Presbyterian Church (of which he was a Charter member) and was a Deacon. He was a member of Rotary Club and a Boy Scout Leader. Well known for his story telling, he often had a captive audience for his funny and heartwarming stories. His vibrant personality, charismatic sense of humor, and kind generosity will long be remembered by his friends and family.
Survivors include his son, Robert McWhorter Boswell III; his daughter, Mary Boswell Langham; son-in-law, Jimmy Langham; his sister, Mary Ben Brown of Penfield; grandchildren, Franklin, Jim, Robert, Elizabeth, and Billie; and four great-grandchildren.
Donations may be made to the Thomson Presbyterian Church.

Joann M. Chalker, 81, of Gibson, mother of Kathy Chalker & the late Lindy M. Chalker, Jr., died on Sat., Aug. 24, 2013.

Catherine "Cathy" James, 59, of Thomson, mother of Shaun James & Timmy Barnett, Jr., died on Fri., Aug. 23, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., Aug. 27, at Sweetwater Baptist Church & Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 26, at Curtis Funeral Home.
Clifford "Gary" Mansfield, 69, of Washington, husband of Dean Mansfield, died on Fri., Aug. 23, 2013.
Funeral services were held on Mon., Aug. 26, at First Baptist Church of Washington. Interment was in Resthaven Cemetery.
The family received friends on Sunday at Hopkins Funeral Home.
Deandre Luis Vega McCoy, 22 month old child of Dennisa Vega & Rochell McCoy, of Lilburn, entered into rest on Tues., Aug. 20, 2013.

Burton L. Smith
Burton L. Smith, 87, of Magnolia Dr. in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on Aug. 26, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn Smith.
A private service will be held at a later date.

Funeral services for Kristen Tywanna Smith Stone, 42, of Wrens, were held on Sat., Aug. 24, 2013, at Stone Springfield A.M.E. Church in Stapleton. Interment was in Harts Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Stapleton.
