The Briarwood Academy Buccaneers took the field against an opponent for the first time this season during John Hancock Academy’s annual Kick-Off Classic on Tuesday evening.
The Bucs first played half of a football game against Trinity Christian, then after a short break, stepped back on the field for two quarters of action against Curtis Baptist.
The Bucs played both teams evenly, ending their time against Trinity with a 7-7 tie. Against Curtis Baptist, the Bucs fell just one point short, 8-7, after allowing a two-point conversion.
“I thought we did pretty good,” said Briarwood Head Coach John Osborne. “We’ve still got to fine tune some things, but I think our line blocked well, our running back ran the ball hard, and we were able to control the ball. That was good. We were able to get our first downs by chewing up clock and holding onto the ball.”
