When a member of the practical nursing class was asked what inspired her to work toward a nursing career, she became emotional as she recalled the illness her grandfather endured.
Brittini Phelps was one of eight nurses pinned in the Summer 2013 Pinning Ceremony Friday at the Thomson campus of Augusta Technical College.
I enjoy helping people and my granddaddy was very sick and he wanted me to do this, she said while holding back tears. I also have two aunts who are nurses and they inspired me to do it, too.
Phelps said she was encouraged to work for what she wanted to do in life and to never stop.
I am excited that I get to move on and help people because it is why I went to nursing school and why I wanted to do it, said Phelps, who received her nursing pin from her brother Colt Phelps.
