Nearly 150 children converged on the lawn of a local church for encouragement for the new academic year and to receive school supplies Saturday.
The churches, City of Life Ministries, New Liberty Hill A.M.E. Church and New Hope A.M. E. in Mesena, provided a communitywide youth explosion to support students and to let them know that there are people who care about them mentally, physically and academically.
The Rev. Nathaniel Kendrick of New Liberty Hill A.M. E. Church said the day afforded the children an opportunity to know them and for them to know the church.
