The man who robbed the First Citizens Bank in Thomson on June 27 is still at large.
Thomson Police Chief John Say said on Wednesday that both the police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are actively engaged in attempting to identify the suspected robber and arrest him.
The 9:35 a.m. robbery of First Citizens Bank on Main Street occurred after the unknown, African-American man entered the bank and told a teller that he had a gun and robbed her of an undisclosed amount of money.
According to Pat Morgan, the GBI special agent in charge of the Region 7 office in Thomson, the weapon was never shown to the teller.
The robber is black, between the age of 40 and 50 years old, approximately 5’5”to 5’9,” weighing approximately 180-195 pounds.
“We are actively working to identify this man and apprehend him,” Seay said.
Anyone with any information is encouraged to call the Thomson Police Department at (706) 595-2166 or the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at (706) 575-2575.
