Gloria Brown
Funeral services for Gloria Ann Brown, 56, of Mesena, will be held on Sat., July 13, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Lithonia Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Society Cemetery in Mesena.
D.T. Brown Memorial Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Glenn Dotson
Glenn Dotson, 67, of Gibson, Ga., entered into rest on July 11, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock on Sat., July 13, in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in the New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Dotson was born in Madison, Ga. and was the son of the late James W. Dotson and the late Dessie Mae Dotson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served his country proudly during Vietnam. Mr. Dotson had been employed by The Coca Cola Company, The Nutrasweet Company and worked at Fort Gordon.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela Johnson and husband Bryan of Gibson, Alice Gary and husband Russell of Thomson; sisters, Violet Parham of Elberton, Ozell Moss of Madison, Lucille Thomas of Griffin; eight grandchildren, Megan Wood, Hunter Johnson, Emily Johnson, April Tomlinson, Shelby Gary, Kenneth Gary, Sarah Gary and Kelly Gary.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Anna Dunn
Anna Lizzie "Bondie" Dunn, of Appling, wife of the late Arthur Dunn, Sr., entered into rest on Wed., July 10, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., July 13, at 12 p.m. at Solid Rock Baptist Church & Cemetery.

Amanda Evins
Amanda G. Evins, of Harlem, entered into rest on Mon., July 8, 2013.
Funeral services were held on Sun., July 14, at China Grove Baptist Church in Edgefield, S.C. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Barbara Gheesling
Barbara Cathcart Eades Gheesling, 81, of Appling, wife of Alton Gheesling, died on Fri., July 12, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tues., July 16, at Thomson Second Baptist Church. Burial will be in Shiloh U.M.C. Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Curtis Funeral Home.

Joan Russell Hawkins
Joan Russell Hawkins, 71, of Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on July 12, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sun., July 14, in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Butch Baston officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hawkins was a lifelong resident of McDuffie County, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Raymond Russell and the late Grace Curry Russell. She was retired as a floral designer and worked with Broome’s Florist, Green Leaf Florist and Wal-Mart for many years. Mrs. Hawkins was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Janie Cason and husband Chuck and Diane Coke, both of Thomson; son, Andy Hawkins of Appling; brother, Roy Russell and wife Patsy; grandchildren, Dana Richliew, Kimberly Heath, Stacy Cason, Michael Coke, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Yasmine Heath and Taylor Coke. Mrs. Hawkins was preceded in death by a son, William Edward Hawkins, Jr.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.

Leslie Holloway
Leslie Holloway, 89, of Lincolnton, husband of Wanda McKinney Holloway, entered into rest on Sun., July 14, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Tues., July 16, at 1 p.m. at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church & Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Beggs Funeral Home of Lincolnton.

Carol Hubert
Carol Ann Hubert, of Harlem, entered into rest on Sat., July 13, 2013.
A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wed., July 17, at St. Teresa of Avila. Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tues., July 16, at Elliott Sons in Martinez.

Mary B. Jones
Mary B. Jones, of Thomson, Ga., passed away on Thurs., July 11, 2013, one day after her 90th birthday surrounded by her family. She was born July 10, 1923 in Hollywood, Ga. as the first child of Mamie (Rumsey) and Frank Densmore of Clarkesville, Ga.
Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her parents; four younger sisters; two infant sons; and her husband, William Carl Jones; as well as a special friend of more than thirty years, Roy Thomas Brooks. She was also predeceased by her son-in-law, Jack D. Brown, Sr. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Brown of Clarkesville and Betty (Ed) Madden of Marietta and her two sons, Butch (Joyce) Jones of Dearing and Frank (Judy) Jones of Warrenton. In addition, she is survived by her two granddaughters, Dawn (Jamie) Nix of Toccoa and Caroline Kate Rogers of Denver, Colo.; and her two grandsons, Darrell Brown of Clarkesville and Jaye (Debbie) Jones of Thomson. She is also survived by four great granddaughters and a great grandson.
Visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home of Thomson on Fri., July 12, from 6-8 o'clock in the evening. Funeral services will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church on Sat., July 13, at 11 o’clock in the morning. Burial will be the following day, Sun., July 14, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon in the family plot at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville, Ga.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Dr. Jacqueline Fincher and her staff as well as the entire staff of Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of their mother.

John Pereda
YMCA
John Pereda, 47, of Washington Drive in Dearing, Ga., entered into rest on July 12, 2013.
The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., July 17, in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Roberto Herrera as Celebrant.
Mr. Pereda was born in Agana, Guam and lived in the United States most of his life. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Desert Storm. Mr. Pereda was a Karate instructor for the YMCA in Thomson and Wrens. He also worked with The McDuffie Progress. Mr. Pereda was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Ann Pereda; daughters, Hannah Pereda and Sara Pereda; parents, Juan Pereda and Rosita "Lily" Pereda; and brother, Gabriel Pereda and wife Nuan.
A Rosary will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. following the Rosary at the funeral home.

Johnnie Rogers
Funeral services for Johnnie Lee Rogers, 62, of Thomson, will be held on Sat., July 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Cody Grove Baptist Church in Warrenton. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Bridge Turner
Bridge S. "Bridget" Turner, of Crawfordville, fiancée of Kenneth Lawson, entered into rest on July 9, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Mon., July 15, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
