By Wayne Parham

A benefit in Appling at Clarks Hill Lake will raise funds to help cover medical expenses of 14-year-old Collin Strait, who was seriously injured in an April 21 dirtbike accident.
Three of Collinís classmates at Briarwood Academy were credited with saving his life following the accident. But, the recovery process is long.
He was released from Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta and returned home this week.
The benefit will last from noon to 10 p.m. at the IBEW labor organizationís recreation facility located at 6021 Ridge Rd., Appling.
The event, called Strait from the Heart, will feature music from two bands and a DJ. The live music will be provided by the Daniel Johnson Band, led by Thomson native Daniel Johnson; and Finguz, a musical duo.
