Cheerleading can be a yearlong sport as the Briarwood Academy middle school cheerleaders found out when they gathered together in the Briarwood gymnasium for two days of competition cheer practice.
Although the competition season doesn’t begin until the end of October, the 23 middle school cheerleaders were hard at work learning routines.
The girls in the June 26-27 day-long camp were assisted by acclaimed cheer instructor Kim Coleman of Spirit Celebrations in Dallas. Coleman led the girls in learning their new cheer routine for the upcoming cheer season. She also worked with the varsity cheer team at Briarwood on learning their new routine.
The group of pre-teens are determined to do well in the competition meets through hard work and practice from now until the competition season begins, leaders said.
Middle school Head Coach Mary Lynn Reese said that she is very excited about this cheer season and knows that the girls will do very well.
