Former Thomson High golfer Ethan Chamineak captured the low medalist title at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Association National Golf Championship.
The four-day tournament was held at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, N.Y., and concluded Friday, June 7. In the end, Chamineak’s Georgia Military College golf team finished fifth. But, the Thomson golfer claimed a national title as an individual by shooting an even par.
Chamineak, 21, is a 2011 THS grad that attends GMC in Augusta but plays on the golf team at the Milledgeville campus.
“Whenever we have tournaments I just meet them up there,” he said. “I probably went and practiced with the team five or six times. Most times I just practiced by myself.”
