• Woman charged for returning stolen items for gift cards
By Linda Green

A local woman who is accused of stealing items from a local store and returning the items for gift cards was recently arrested and is being held at the McDuffie County Jail.
Thomson Police were called to Walmart on June 5 in response to a report of a group of people shoplifting items and then approaching customer service to return the merchandise to receive the value on a gift card.
Police Captain Jamie Bridges and Officers Don Hilson and Willie Williams positioned themselves at the store’s entrances/exits and store personnel soon pointed out a man and woman who were suspected of shoplifting.
The two suspected individuals were in a car in the store’s parking lot and Bridges soon identified them as Courtney N. Boose and Anthony McNair.
“In the vehicle were several Walmart bags and there was a Walmart gift card on Ms. Boose’s left leg,” Bridges said.
