The culinary queen of Thomson reached a milestone on May 30.
Ella “Miss Ella” Hamilton, who has been cooking for groups and for special occasions since 1949, celebrated her 81st Birthday.
Hamilton, who prepares weekly meals for the Kiwanis Club of Thomson, the Thomson Rotary Club, and the NAFFEE Club, a group of retirees, has been celebrated and recognized in a variety of ways in recent days.
She has been serenaded, received gifts, clothing, flowers, and cakes and money.
“I celebrated my birthday by cooking at the Depot,” she said, noting that she is often busy each day of the week.
“I thank the Lord for letting me see 81 years. I am blessed,” the Thomson native said, adding that she is guided by the 23rd Psalms.
With her catering company Hamilton’s Catering, Miss Ella and her staff of five cook for the love of it.
