Elaine Pilgrim Abbott
Elaine Pilgrim Abbott, 76, of Edgar Circle in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on June 7, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Mon., June 10, at Washington Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Reginald Blakewood, Rev. Rodney Peavy and Rev. Sonny Peevy officiating. Interment will follow in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Abbott was a native of McDuffie County, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Gilbert Pilgrim and the late Marjorie Ryals Bielen. She was retired from Regions Bank Bookkeeping Department. Mrs. Abbott was a member of Washington Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 59 years, William E. “Bill” Abbott; son, Mike Abbott and wife Barbara, all of Thomson, Ga.; daughter, Linda Barnett and husband Mickey of Newberry, S.C.; brothers, Phil Pilgrim, Randy Pilgrim, Larron Pilgrim; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Judy Pilgrim. Mrs. Abbott was preceded in death by a brother, C. H. Pilgrim; and a daughter, Peggy Abbott.
The family received friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Otis Freeman
Otis Freeman, 63, of Mitchner Rd. in Dearing, Ga., entered into rest on June 7, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Tues., June 11, in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rodney Dunaway, Rev. Albert James and Rick Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Mr. Freeman grew up in Richmond County, Ga. and lived in McDuffie County since 1977. He taught History, Health Sciences and PECE for McDuffie County Board of Education and retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Freeman also taught Hunter’s Safety for 35 years and he was a member of Boneville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Marilyn W. Freeman; daughters, Melissa Rimmer and husband Shane, all of Dearing, Ga. and Anna Dunaway and husband Rodney of Thomson, Ga.; and grandchildren, Alex Rimmer, Olivia Dunaway, Josh Rimmer and Laura Dunaway.
The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to Dr. Jamie Lemley, Dr. Dan Duggan, Dr. John Cheape, Dr. Mark Keaton, Dr. Doris Tummilo and Carol, Sandra, Michael and Tom with Trinity Hospice for the exceptional care given to Mr. Freeman during his illness.
Memorials may be made to the Boneville United Methodist Church.
Friends may call at the residence or the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

William Gartrell
William Gartrell, of Lincolnton, Ga., entered into rest on Sun., June 2, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., June 8, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church & Cemetery.

Julia E. Mooney
Julia E. Mooney, 77, of Lincolnton, wife of Clarence Mooney, entered into rest on Sun,, June 9, 2013.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Beggs Funeral Home of Lincolnton.

Neal W. Rabun
Neal W. Rabun, 83, of Thomson, Ga., entered into rest on June 9, 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wed., June 12, at Sweetwater Baptist Church with Rev. J. B. Redd, Rev. Jon Richards and Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the May Family Cemetery.
Mr. Rabun was born in Glascock County, Ga. and lived in McDuffie County, Ga. most of his life. He was the son of the late Walter Rabun and the late Inez Neal Rabun. Mr. Rabun worked for many years at Kingsley Mill and Uniroyal and he was the retired owner and operator of McDuffie Implement. He was also a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church where he had taught the Youth Department and served as Deacon Emeritus.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Inez May Rabun; daughters, Mary Lynn Rabun Raley and husband Bob, Ann Rabun Bell and husband Rex, Jill Rabun Brooks and husband Chris; son, Dennis Neal Rabun and wife Jaymie, all of Thomson, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Renee’ (Butch) Askew, Jennifer (Ben) Huff, Beth (Ryan) Neal, Jesse and Joshua Brooks, Zachary and Sadie Rabun; and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy S. Reynolds
Dorothy S. Reynolds, 91, of Moose Club Rd. in Thomson, Ga., entered into rest June 7, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Reynolds.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sun., June 9, in the Beggs Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Lambert officiating. Interment followed in Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Glascock County, Ga. and was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and late Lucretia Wilcher Smith. She lived most of her life in McDuffie County and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Creig Reynolds of Lincolnton, Ga., Glen A. Reynolds and wife Vickie of Grovetown, Ga.; daughters, Priscilla Foster and husband Neal of Thomson, Ga., Debbie Lokey and husband Johnny of Dearing, Ga., Barbara MacLennan and husband John of Omaha, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; and her beloved pet, Sam.

Friends may call at the residence of Debbie and Johnny Lokey, 1600 Lokey Drive, Dearing, Ga. The family received friends from 2 until 3 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Rosa L. Smith
Rosa Lee Smith, of Lincolnton, mother of Carolyn Tompkins, Gloria Jones, Allene Parks, George Parks, Roger Parks, Jimmy Parks & Michael Parks, passed away on Thurs., June 6, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Mon., June 10, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church & Cemetery.

Tammy Stephens
Tammy Brackett Stephens, 51, of Dearing, died on Sat., June 8, 2013, at home. A native of Thomson, she was the daughter of Judith Walker Brown and the late Samuel Brackett. She lived in Wilkes County most of her life and was a 1980 graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Stephens. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel U.M.C.
A graveside service will be held on Tues., June 11, at 11 a.m. in the Bethel U.M.C. Cemetery with Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Brent McClure, Steven Whatley, Jeff Brown, Danny Pilgrim, Matt Huff and Michael Smith will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include one son, Jamin Stephens of Dearing; mother, Judith Brown of Washington; one brother, Michael Brown and his wife Lisa of Thomson; and two nieces, Madeline Brown and Olivia Brown.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10–10:45 a.m. on Tuesday.
