• Fire crews allow shed to burn out
By Linda Green

A possible lightning strike may be the cause of a Sunday morning fire on Wrightsboro Road.
McDuffie County Fire and Rescue was dispatched to 2222 Wrightsboro Road to respond to a burning shed.
When the 11 firefighters and two engines arrived, the homeowner, Jimmy Howard, was already plowing a firebreak around the structure, said Assistant Fire Chief Stephen Sewell.
The chief said the homeowner woke to find the shed ablaze and began plowing a break around the structure.
“Since there was a break, we let it burn itself out,” Sewell said. Once the fire was out, crews returned to their quarters.
