Man dies in bypass collision with truck

A collision between two cars and a tractor-trailer Monday morning resulted in one fatality and another person being airlifted to an Augusta hospital.
Law enforcement, emergency services from McDuffie and Warren counties, personnel from McDuffie County Fire Rescue, the county coroner, the assistant coroner, the Georgia State patrol, highway motor carrier compliance officers and Georgia Department of Transportation personnel responded to the 11 a.m. accident at Highway 17 South and the Thomson Bypass.
According to GSP Trooper Matt MacDonald, a Midwest Company tractor trailer, driven by William Croft of Kentucky, was traveling north on Highway 17, a HHR Chevy, driven by Dearing resident Felicia Jacobs, was traveling south on Highway 17, and the Crown Victoria, driven by James A. Lucas, Jr., of Irmo, S. C., ran the stop sign at the Thomson Bypass and collided with the tractor-trailer.
