Briarwood Academy continued region play Tuesday with a road trip to Covenant Academy. The Bucs lost 6-5 in Briarwood’s next-to-the-last region game of the regular season.
The game was slow at the start with Covenant putting one run on the board in the first inning and adding one more in the third.
But in the fourth, the Briarwood bats came to life for a four-run inning. At the end of four, the Bucs led the Rams 4-2.
“In the fourth inning we really had some timely hitting as we scored all our runs with two outs,” said Briarwood Coach Bo Fleming.
Two of the four runs scored on a Mason Kent single. A Fifth Newton double also drove two runs in during the fourth inning.
“The game got away from us in the sixth inning,” said Fleming.
In the fifth, the Rams scored four to take a 6-4 lead.
