Saturday morning a group of wounded soldiers, care providers, and others ventured from Augusta to Thomson for a fun-filled day of fishing. All are affiliated with the Warrior Transition Unit at Fort Gordon.
Charlie Lewis has for nine years invited the wounded warriors out to fish in the ponds at his home, located off Cedar Rock Road.
“We appreciate each and every one of you and what you do for our country, and what you have done and will continue to do in the future. It is unfortunate that the rest of the world does not realize just how much of the weight of the world that you carry on your shoulders,” Lewis told the soldiers.
Some have not fished before, but for most it is a chance to return to something they love but have not had time for lately.
