• Part of roof collapses at Shaw
By Linda Green

Fourteen county fire fighters rushed to a Thomson industry to provide assistance in evacuating employees after the roof collapsed during Sunday night’s thunderstorm.
Personnel from the McDuffie County Fire Rescue responded to an emergency call from Shaw Industries at 7:50 p.m. about a possible structure collapse.
According to a report from Captain Kevin Perry of Station 2, when firefighters arrived at 1990 Warrenton Highway, the managers led them to the area where the roof had fallen in. They witnessed an I-beam bent 45 degrees down and resting on gas lines, a fire main and steam lines.
